So I read this article today, and I was quite shocked. RSA recently completed a wireless hotspot security survey between top financial centers in New Your, London and Paris, and the results were quite surprising. Of the three locations, it appears London has the largest amount of secure hotspots. But get this, they are secured with WEP, which can now be cracked in less than a minute. Granted, I do believe London is taking a step in the right direction with securing more of their hotspots, but at least use a form of encryption a little more robust than WEP…
RSA Security just finished a study of Wi-Fi in three top financial centers: New York, London and Paris. The security solutions business company found that of the three big money centers, London has the most Wi-Fi, but more importantly, the most secure Wi-Fi.
The number of wireless access points has jumped by 160% over the past 12 months, with 7,130 connections, compared to 6,371 in New York and only 827 in Paris. Around 6% of those were public Wi-Fi spots, compared to 15% in New York and 11% in Paris.[more]
