This is one of the new additions to the Storm Botnet. As one method of propagation, it will send you an email stating that there is a scandalous video about you on YouTube. If you click on a link, you will be directed to a fraudulent YouTube where malware will then be remotely installed on your machine, thus adding you to the botnet. While I have personally not received this kind of email, it sounds like it is pretty easy to spot as a scam. From the sounds of it, this email is infested with spelling errors and does not really sound professional at all. Knowing that, it will be interesting to see how successful this is.
If you get an e-mail urging you to quickly click over and watch a scandalous video about you on YouTube… don’t.
It’s the latest dirty trick from a vicious group of hackers called the “Storm Botnet” aimed at getting access to your computer and then turning it into a remote-controlled zombie machine that can be used to send out spam or launch attacks on Websites and networks.
Phony e-mails went out by the tens of thousands over the weekend with the message ttle “OMG, what are you thinking” or “You can see your face right in the video. its all over the web dude. take a look, lol.”[more]
